Dear Ugich Konitari
You put it so aptly 'Dev Anand and Vishram Bedekar were on the opposite sides of the screen; one on it, one behind it.'

Dear Radgovind,
Yes, life should be lived as it comes and on one's own terms. I agree. Reflecting on one's life leads to discovering oneself and perhaps it helps us make sense of whatever happens. Both can be done, not really mutually exclusive it is.

Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving a comment on this and other posts, I enjoyed reading.
Vivek

A life unexamined is a life not worth living? Isn't that a bit too harsh?

There are some who would say that life is too short for that. And although I am a chronic examiner myself, I tend to agree with those who say that life should be lived as it comes and on one's own terms.

All the same, the coincidence in your reading two contrasting autobiographies is striking. Maybe it was fate! :)

Govindraj Umarji

Dev Anand and Vishram Bedekar were on the opposite sides of the screen; one on it, one behind it. Dev Anand cared only for the visuals, and what they meant and/or implied. His autobiography predictably follows that.

Vishram Bedekar's background just cannot be compared here. He had outstanding thought processes, planning of films, companionship with great intellectuals of his time, which was s speciality of Marathi literature, theatre and performing arts of that time.

It takes guts to critically look at one's self. And then publicize it. Vishram Bedekar had them. Dev Anand did not. As simple as that.
