First of all, wean away workers from CPIML i.e from the Union cannot be the function of Management. Perhaps the seeds of being percieved unfair got sowed at that point, if what is reported is correct. According to me we have to respect that choice of Union is workers right. However, counselling them against go-slow is perfectly legitimate.
Secondly, provocation or otherwise, assault cannot be justified and to that extent I think Mr Patwardhan is trying to give some leeway, which I dont agree. The leaders and the workers must behave in a civilized & democratic way. Unions, will protest against police high handedness, but they cant do the same thing with the Management is my view.
Sharad
