That was indeed a very succint summing up. Although I am not familiar with most of the names you wrote about, I could well understand your interest and enthusiasm. And listening to Amitabh's recitation must have also been quite nice. I believe he can modulate his baritone quite wonderfully.

Must have been quite an experience. I only heard few recitals by AB in news channels.
The simile of the snake is quite apt as you said. I can only wonder what advantage they can get by maligning AB and family.

Talking of hate politics, as I write this, my nephew has received a death threat because he is in law school and has a beard. Two of his Hindu friends came home at 11 pm to warn him and to tell him not to go to college tomorrow. There is curfew in Hyderabad. My mother lives in the old city in our ancestral house with my sister and her family. I remember when there was a curfew for communal riots in the 70's – we are used to both communal riots and curfews – our friend, Mr. Raman Kumar, took special permission from the Police, took his cousin in his army jeep and brought provisions to our house, because he realized that we were without food for several days.Udai Pareek's mother was stuck in a curfew in a communal riot in Jaipur and her neighbor, a Muslim man came with his two sons and said to her, 'Maaji, as long as these two are alive, nobody will touch you.' Udai's mother called him and said, 'I will not come to your house. I am very safe here.' Dear God! What happened to this country? How have we become like this?
