From what the organisation has seen till now, Stephen has built a reputation for being Open, honest, direct and transparent, and wants everyone in Nokia to be so. When he states these things which are known to everyone but no leader before him spelt out clearly, his courage is appreciated, and in that the employee sees a General behind whom they can stand and fight. A spirit that earlier leaders have not been able to generate, is now seen in Nokia.
While I agree that these leaks are avoidable, there is nothing secret in what he has stated. Infact its in preparation for the capital markets day.

Stephen has not fanned the flames but ignited passion, and prepared the organisation for change, in a candid communication.
