Sachin has indeed done us proud. Your mention of Ajit Wadekar brought back memories of my school days when I was 8-9 years old.

Ivividly remember seeing a photograph of the cricket team led by wadekar disembarking from the aircraft. After that I would love to pretend to myself that I was Wadekar and I would try to be the first to get out of the school bus and all the other girls behind me would be the cricket team. 🙂

We have indeed been very fortunate to live during the times of all time legends. Some others I can think of are from the world of music like Hemant Kumar, Manna Dey, Mukesh, Kishore Kumar and the like.

There was a feeling among the cricket enthsiasts that he was selected for test career rather late. So was one of the most stylish left hander.
So when he was selected as a Captain there were jubilations, and several college going students [like me then] had a great celebration. 🙂

Mention of Wadekar in your post- took me by surprise. Usually cricket fans – praise more of Gavaskar and Kapil. My Dad is a big fan of Wadekar- and keeps saying, under his captaincy we won Matches overseas.

Sachin's feat was brilliant- much awaited celebration. Turly as Santosh Desai rightly says " Its a personal achievement- that got Nationalized"
