Good read indeed! It left me wondering if this dialogue was missing in AA, and why this was not emphasized by both parties earlier. This also reminded me of the NOCs that I drafted to Asian Paints unions - that gave them candid snapshot of current factory performance and challenges/opportunities for future. If both parties truly invest in this open communication, results can be astonishing.

Till last month, one of our factory unions was adamant that we employ their children ONLY for all new automated lines (irrespective of qualification, aptitude). Then we openly discussed it with them about our future plans, showed them videos of new production lines from our factories in Europe. After 4 hours of discussion, union not only wholeheartedly endorsed management plans, but offered any help that may be required to implement the proposals.
