Abhijit Phadnis writes:
Very thought provoking. Another dimension that I often find disturbing is that the attitude towards employees and attitude towards vendors is so radically different. Employees are to be nurtured and vendors are to be exploited! Being 'fair' is often restricted only to employees but one need not be fair with vendors & service providers, as if the latter are not human beings!

Sir.. Great insights as ever.. The challenge however is to help the Line Managers to see the obvious.. You are absolutely right in mentioning the CEO needs to have a long term vision.. Most of the issues occur when the focus is on short term profit only..
Question is how HR Manager can play a role in this?

Am surprised that this well labored post has yet to be commented on. It is neither fair nor just to leave this page, unadorned in its pristine form. Firstly, kudos on bringing such a eclectic taste in simple everyday terms. Secondly, compliments on the elevation that you do for readers, Vivek Sir, to lift them from their daily grind to lofty aspirational possibilities. Thirdly, my reflective self must make mention of the following.
1. Justice seems an interpretive task of indefinite form, despite definite specifications from statutes for judgment. It is apparently a worldly pursuit bereft of divine intervention.
2. Fairness seems a mark of authentic presence in communion with those whom one impacts. In fact, it may also mean regarding non-humans as persons, for it is cosmologically inspired, perhaps of spiritual essence.
3. Neither Justice nor Fairness may have had its rules of progeny in Law or Life, if the Industrial Revolution, The Scientific Revolution and now the emerging Spiritual Revolution marked age on our consciousness. In the Agricultural era, man communed more with nature than to take control over it. In developing these constructs, and testing the limits of human conduct, man has learnt to appreciate experiences that we can now share in diminutive form on blogpaces.
Thanks again for sharing what Thane has been blessed with.
