I believe that the 2*2 matrix provided by you is so comprehensive that practically it can be extended to all the managerial roles. “The fact is that IR is orphaned today” may be true from your perspective but what I understood so far is that IR is being treated and projected as an independent, exclusive, elite function which manages some ‘mysterious’ (and may be notorious) part of human/employee relation. The ‘Why’ part of actions taken by this function is known to very few people of the organisation (Management, IR and may be Union) and may be because of that we are developing feeling of being ‘orphaned’.]]></description>

Your title says it all! Workers ARE human beings and have been the focus of &#039;anthropological curiosity&#039;for too long - as if they were a different species.

Today, it doesn&#039;t matter who had or has more power - workers or management. As you have suggested and illustrated in your practical 2X2 table, conversations of many types and systems to support them,are the route to effectiveness.
