Focus of employee relations should not be to prevent unionization but to make the unionization unnecessary through building a listening organisation.

In manufacturing sector, we have several cases wherein the union has openly admitted that they don’t have a strong case because the management of the company is taking care of the people very well.

Managing employee morale & anxiety through business transitions is a critical expectation of the management (facilitated by HR). Upholding the values of fairness and transparency in such challenging situations is the key.
