Excellent article, Vivek. A lot of reading and research has gone into it?

One thing is for sure that machine learning / deep learning cannot be ignored and is going to impact our daily life in a big way. Mundane jobs are no more required to be performed by people. Automation has already taken over processes and basic decision making. Advancement in Neural science will start giving more and more intelligence to technology. While cognitive intelligence will continuously improve, it would be interesting to observe the level of emotional intelligence that gets built into the technologies.

Once again, an excellent article.

A dynamite – that’s how I felt after reading through the article. Actually the future may do away with the conventional functions and would have only roles. I shudder to think what happens with so much of manpower on this planet. Those who won’t fit in the value added roles would be then the labourers! In fact a sizable cause of reduction in job growth across the world is enhanced automation. But the Monster is unleashed! It’s perhaps time to hone and sharpen our emotional, artistic and relationship skills which may take (hopefully)longer for machines to emulate! Very thought provoking article indeed! Thank you!

I am rather left with the intriguing question as to how as a collective class we can start championing the policy making in our country looking at the consequences on society which AI will leave.

Thanks for an insightful article/ speech. All this machine intelligence brings back movies like Terminator series to mind – probably not in a scary way but in a “get going – no one will wait for u” way. Evolution will definitely help us catch up only if we accept change – earlier evolution took centuries – now it seems it happens in less than a decade. Great Vivek- keep it coming – ur articles have so much research – makes it easier for me to keep abreast.

This was forwarded to me by Zahid and am glad he did so! Is it really going to be such a boon? What will happen to those millions unemployed who are already at the bottom of the pyramid? What will it do to the gap between “haves and have nots” and hence the need to research social impact of AI
And the insight about older men at top being obstacles is bang on. My recent experience with a technology company where a majority of the leadership team (mostly men in age group of 45-55) used Zoom as a platform for connecting for the first time and were awed by it is a cse in point! So much for leadership enabling transformation. Thanks for sharing this!
