So true, Sir. I do feel that we are at a cusp where deep down inside, people are unable to connect to the role workplaces want them to play. I am reminded of Modern Times by Charlie Chaplin. A specific scene comes to mind where we have to tighten the bolts and he has no time to catch his breath. Whether it is the service industry or the knowledge workers, everyone has to follow a rhythm and a schedule which leaves little time for "being".

The plight of delivery boys, drivers is definitely worse but I have come to believe that it is fashionable to seem to care but no one really cares. Thanks so much for sharing this, Sir. :)

Great blog Vivek. The area of concern is that this sector is growing each day and more and more sectors are getting included in this. Like mall employees, like security of housing societies and townships, and a whole lot more. I will not be surprised if this sector becomes the largest in the country very soon. On one hand it has provided opportunities that would not have a chance otherwise but at the same time have taken this state of theirs for granted and stretched the boundaries to become exploitative and for the Zomato and Amazon and other delivery workers, our public infrastructure is so poor that they cannot get decent bio breaks too. I think they all need to be included in the "formal" sector and offered protection

Migrant Labour is all about movement from a low opportunity to a place where there is an opportunity to rise up and grow. The issue is not about migrant workforce but compensation equality / compensation growth or increase, work hours and work benefits. Proving toilet facilities, giving bio breaks and ensuring just reward is a basic necessity. I believe the time has come again to revisit our fundamentals of reward, differentials in reward and need to build a society based on principle of equity and reward. The greed for money needs to get reduced !
