Sir,

This is a brilliant write up! Makes one reflect.

Logical wisdom would suggest that Beliefs influence Decisions. Decisions lead to Life Experiences. Life Experiences influence Beliefs. And it goes on in a self-correcting heuristic way.

However, some things cannot be explained logically as I understood from your blog. In the example of the textile worker who picked up Narayan Surve, the Decision did not appear logical from the perspective of others. Maybe some of the Beliefs of the Textile Worker influenced his Decision to pick up the abandoned baby. But, there is certainly more to it than just the Beliefs!

Some Decisions are instinctive or 'Reflex Decisions'. The logical process of decision making gets short-circuited. Is this what is commonly referred to as 'subconscious mind'?

Maybe we need to ask Lulu!!

Thanks for posting this.

Decisions are certainly affected by life experience. But in my opinion, one of the most important things to do is to consciously avoid life experience from influencing decisions. Not all live experiences are positive and their influence on decision making is negative. After all that is how prejudice and stereotyping happens. It takes great self-awareness and character to recognize when a decision is about to be affected by a negative life experience and not allow that to happen but to take a decision that is fair, just, and compassionate.

Each person gives responses based on life experience which continually shapes the mind coupled with values one holds dear.

Also awareness, relatedness and sense of futurity perhaps works in the background.

Thanks for this gift of well articulated blog.

Life experiences definitely help you build perspectives and appreciate life by itself. But its also based on one views the life experience ... siblings who go through similar life experiences respond differently because of their inherent nature. Same "Parvarish" but personal belief system will drive the decision

Sir,

In my opinion all leaders in the industry before they get promoted to their rank should spend some years of their work experience mingling with the grassroot level workers and learning the trade. It will also open their mind to look at things from the perspective of these people and such experience will make them better people friendly decision makers.....

Am reminded of something poignant - sharing.

Earlier this year, when I responded to 50 questions, my coach revealed episodes in her life, when help came to her in unexpected ways, and that defies logic. Solitude socially is just one aspect, listening within is the other.

On another note...I will not be surprised if Lulu says that of predictable responses of leaders who turn away from signals of distress. "In unexpected ways". I leave that to your art of writing when you weave another set of real life experiences.
