Thanks Vivek for the insights on Work Ethic ..and great examples

A major part/responsibility is on Leadership .it takes me back to many memories. Organisations would look to attendance bonus to get employee to attend!!! and provide work incentives to get work??? I personally could not come to terms with such " reward" mechanisms and spent more time not having them.

Very simply put- a Leader knows the way, shows the way and walks the way...sums up an attempt to have the appropriate Culture and Work Ethic in place is what I feel.

My experience and learning is that nothing is Impossible ...whilst it takes time and effort, getting the appropriate work ethic/culture is possible .

It is easy to blame Government/society /culture/history etc ...but that will not deliver the solution.

ultimately, it is all about People and Leadership

"Work ethic is important because it is a choice." What a powerful title. And so true. Inspired me to write something which I will share when it is done. I don't know how to or even if it is possible to, post a picture here, which shows work ethic. But will send you the picture by email and you can share it with your readers, Vivek. Work ethic in my opinion is a reflection of self-respect. It is the way a person honors himself and his work. That is why people with a great work ethic, get high respect, because they respect themselves and this is reflected in their work ethic. Many thanks for this article. With your permission I will include the link for it in my article.

Read it thrice before i could really grasp the entire message and more so the depth of the same . Work Ethic is definitely a choice . My father was a clerk with Bombay Port Trust but his position didnt matter . He was early every day and extremely conscientious about his work . We see so many young professionals who believe its ok to be late , ok to give false excuses for missing work . Its the choice they make . How do we motivate the younger generation to follow role models is a new challenge we see at the work place ? the newer generation is more independent of thought , they may not want to follow a role model. Work Ethic there fore becomes more challenging both as a system or role model .

Work ethics is part of business ethics.

When one sees work ethics questionable, then check their premises of business.

Very well written and quite inspiring. Sir, you should have taught me all this much earlier. Better late than never:). Like you have said I have transitioned through all the quadrants of the Work Ethics Matrix.

Beautiful examples and inspiring quotes.

The last quote is the killer calling for reflection
" Work ethic is important because, unlike intelligence, athleticism, charisma, or any other natural attribute, it’s a choice.” ???

Really enjoyed this. Unfortunately often I have seen an absence of both reetee and neetee at the personal and professional level. But what I feel really thrilled about that those who wish to follow both still find a way to do it and that is inspirational. Many thanks for the blog
