Pradeep Khandwala was also my professor at IIMA. His book Fourth Eye is well worth reading. He was considered among other things, an expert on Creativity. His workshops on Creativity were really something to remember. As for the Dunning Kruger effect, I can think of a few closer who suffer from it and thanks to them, they make so many others suffer. There should be a term invented to describe the victims of DK effect leaders.

There is a very old saying in Tamil

 KATRADHU KAIMANl ALAVU

 KALLADHATHU ULAGALAVU, meaning,

‘ What we have learnt is just Handful,

What we have not learnt is of the size of

the World.’ No one can claim that he is

 Knowledges in every thing.

Learning is Continuous, if one gets

arrogated and develops ‘ I Know it all ‘

Syndrome, his decline starts . This

also applies to ‘ Organizations ‘

attempting to transform as ‘ Learning

 Organisation, as advocated by

 Stephen. Covey

Interesting. However, this effect may be required for Sales folks where they are required to display knowledge of everthing. What is the opposite of this skill? Where someone has the knowledge but is worried to speak up?

I'm no expert (I learn most things from the internet), but I think the Dunning Kruger effect comes from our insecurities and our inability to admit our mistakes. It kind of snowballs from talking about things like "how they could have played in that match, (even though I have never played with a season ball)" to "this person is the only one who can carry this country (even though they have a history of creating terror in the past on the name of religion but at least it won't affect my religion)." Does not make any sense but kind of makes us so entitled that it fogs reality.
