The missing conversations in Employee Relations blog is so beautifully articulated with relevant examples.

The approach is always a tailor made as one size doesn't fit all & it's heavily dependent on the ER driving leadership (not just the ER officials).

Relationship maintenance is an art. Success and failures are full of learnings when ego is kept aside.

Dear Vivek
An Excellent treatise on Employee Relations …great learnings that one can draw all thru’
Great examples to look and apply as applicable
Yes, conversations are very crucial …both in difficult and good times
In summary, the “full “story will never be known …nonetheless, one has to keep trying in right earnest

Vivek,
A real tour de force! A master/student on ER talking about experiences and drawing out learning points. Indeed a great primer on the importance open and frank conversations: the bedrock of any relations. The examples are great and serve to illustrate your thesis right from the Tata Colony to ASAL.
Thanks dear for this seminal teach which will help a lot the new GEN who ignore IR and ER as it is non glamorous. With your stories you have shown how much can be done; it is limited only by the practitioner's imagination. More power to your pen! Keep inspiring and guiding us mere mortals.

Excellent, as usual!
Many times, job satisfaction, treatment satisfaction and money satisfaction is what matters.
Problems, when not attended in time, at times assume frankenstine proportions.
In my opinion, consistent conversations with employees matter.
Do we invest time in communicating periodically with the workforce? Competitive forces world over is talking of.

Having said that, mechanisation, Automation is marching on. The need for labour is reduced. Industrial Relations of the era gone by, has changed. One feels that fear of loss of employment, rather than hope , has been occupying the minds of working class. Use of Contract labour is rampant. May be, time has come, to also look at IR in Government organisations such as railways, defence, municipalities etc.
