Insightful read! AI and learning or rather the lack of it are already being widely discussed, but I loved the way you wove learning tools and theories into the discussion. Right from rote learning to application-based learning - it's pretty comprehensive. Plus, the right AI tool (Notebook LM) that can be used to ease out learning.

The crux is - use AI for learning, then try and solve problems by applying your learning, either yourself or by prompting AI (based on your learning). But do not use it to directly solve your problems!

I think it’s a well written blog which honestly showcases the dangers of ai. Because I agree. Ai has been used as a tool for decades. But generative ai hasn’t. And now it’s public property and it’s greatly impacting the youth. A lot of American teachers who are on tik tok are saying the younger generation refuses to learn. It’s a huge problem there because of the no kid left behind law which was renamed to something less memorable but holds the same ideals as the original law. Also how schools are given public funding is based on the schools performance. All this (and more) leads to lots of children not trying or not realising they aren’t learning until it’s too late. Because even if they turn in an empty page or an obviously ChatGPT response (some kids don’t even read the essays. Or change it. Or get rid of the prompt.) they still get 50% as the schools need them to get a grade or they lose their funding. It’s a huge issue as kids cannot think for themselves anymore in class.

If you are is interested he should listen to teacher testimonies. There’s loads on TikTok. Many have their own podcasts and such.

“AI is not a shortcut to ready-made answers; its true power lies in sharpening how we think through problems. But this requires strong subject knowledge — without it, hallucinations are inevitable. That risk stems from the user’s grasp of the domain, not the AI itself.”

Lulu and Nina taking us through the AI.. that's great. I recently watched a podcast with an economics professor who teaches in Harvard. He says there's no alternative to spending time in learning. Also reminds us that AI can hallucinate!
